KOCHI: The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) plans to set up a seismic station and a tidal gauge at a cost of nearly Rs.50 lakhs as part of a tsunami study centre being planned by its School of Marine Sciences. The seismic station will provide information on earthquakes ad the tidal gauge will keep tabs on tidal variations off the Kochi shore, said K.T. Damodaran, Director, School of Marine Sciences, here on Friday. The School of Marine Sciences has already geomorphologically mapped the Alapad and Arattupuzha areas in Kollam and Alappuzha districts, the worst hit by the December 26 tsunami.
