MAYILADUTURAI: A one-day exhibition on photography organised by the AVC College, Mayiladuturai in association with Rotary Club of Mayuram two days ago at Govindammal Thirumana Mandapam attracted huge crowd, mostly college students. A.R.C Shanmugham, visiting Professor of the AVC College and Past President of the Rotary club of Mayuram, told The Hindu that as many as 216 photos taken by the students of the Department of Visual Communication of the college were also displayed. The students displayed photos on architecture, landscape, portraiture, floods, famine, child labour and physically challenged children, natural calamities like tsunami, close-ups of miniature creatures, travels and fashion photography.
Prof.Shanmugham said the exhibition was organised to stress the need to creating an awareness in the minds of the people about role of photography in various fields including aerial photography, especially for the demarcation of the boundaries with other nations, weather forecasting, underwater photography and forensic science.
