Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is proposing to have meters fitted to water supply lines of individual dwellings also to minimise wastage and also to ensure "adequate, affordable, regular and low-cost [to the VMC]" drinking water to citizens. Once the meters are in place, the Corporation collects water charges from users.
