PONDICHERRY : Students in their final year degree will have an opportunity to undergo a part time course in advertising from the next academic year. A new institute, Srimaa Advertising Institute, would be established here for students in arts and science colleges. The promoter of the institute is Ram Sehgal, currently group advisor for Rediffusion Dentsu Young and Rubicam. Fifty students would be admitted in the first batch. During the one-year course the students would be exposed to the various facets of advertising including public relations, event management, celebrity management, direct marketing and media relations. Mr. Ram Sehgal said that the course would be structured in a way that students could do the course during the evening time five days a week. The Institute would have tie up with various advertising schools including the prestigious Mudra Institute of Communication to facilitate exchange programmes, he said.
