Hoax call

NEW DELHI: A call claiming that a bomb had been planted at Hotel Intercontinental on Barakhamba Road here sent the New Delhi police into a tizzy on Saturday. The call was later declared a hoax.

The Police Control Room received a call around 5-15 p.m. from a mobile phone claiming that a bomb had been planted in one of the hotel rooms.

Subsequently, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), the sniffer dog squad and fire engines were rushed to the spot. In coordination with the local police, the BDS and dog squad checked every room and also the conference and banquet halls and restaurants in the hotel.

Finally, after about two hours of search, the call was declared a hoax.

Bodies found

NEW DELHI: Two unidentified men were found murdered in a desolate park at Adarsh Nagar in North-West Delhi on Saturday.

According to the police, the bodies were spotted by a passerby around 11 a.m.

While one of them was believed to be around 20 years, the other man was said to be around 25 years old.

School Games opened

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit declared open the 51st National School Games at Chhatrasaal Stadium here on Saturday. Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely presided over the colourful ceremony. More than 4,200 school children from 28 States are taking part in the games.

Shradhanand Diwas

NEW DELHI: A "shobha yatra" procession will be taken out on Sunday to commemorate Swami Shradhanand Balidan Diwas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The procession will start from Swami Shradhanand Balidan Bhawan and pass through Naya Bans, Lal Kuan, Hauz Quazi, Chawri Bazar, Nai Sarak, Chandni Chowk, Town Hall, Gurdwara Sisganj, Dariba Kalan, Ram Chandra Dehivi Marg before terminating at Parade Ground. Normal flow of traffic will be affected in the Walled City area.
