Belgaum: Vega Auto Accessories Pvt. Ltd. launched the country's first Pocket Bike, a compact Moto Grand Prix motorcycle meant only for go-kart tracks in Belgaum on Sunday. Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar inaugurated the launch by riding the bike. Belgaum-based Vega Auto plans the launch the bike for the commercial market in 2007. Until then, it will be used as an instrument for creating awareness on importance of headgears and besides encouraging pocket bike racing. The pocket bikes were first invented in Japan and later introduced in Europe. The 39.9 cc bike with a maximum power of 3.4 Hp at 8700 rpm with disc brakes and carrying a top speed of 45 miles per hour, reaches 0-60 kmph in 3.90 seconds. While riding this bike, it is essential to wear racing gear.
