VISAKHAPATNAM: Minister for Endowments and Panchayat Raj J.C. Diwakar Reddy has advocated developing the Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple in the old city by acquiring the old houses in and around the temple complex. Talking to reporters at the temple premises on Sunday, he said the temple authority would negotiate with the owners of buildings and shopping complexes in the vicinity for providing them alternative sites elsewhere and also give jobs to the displaced persons, if so required. He participated in the `panchamruth abhishekam puja' in the evening and appreciated the temple atmosphere in the old city. MLAs Gandi Babjee and Tippala Gurumurthy Reddy accompanied the Minister. Chairman of the board of trustees of the temple V. Sanyasi Raju (Tataji), trustees Paluri Suryavathi, Ramoju Mani, Ch. Satyanarayana Reddy and P. Satyanarayana, Regional Joint Commissioner of Endowments G.V. Narasimha Murthy, executive officer of Simhachalam Devasthanam V. Sankara Reddy, Deputy Commissioner S. Kondala Rao and executive officer of the Sri Kanamahalakshmi temple Ch. Baburao were present.
