NEW DELHI: Surya Shekhar Ganguly and Sandipan Chanda won important games to help India outplay Iran `A' 3-1, but Vietnam moved into sole lead after whipping Afghanistan 4-0 in the seventh round of the Asian team chess championship at Esfahan, in Iran, on Sunday. In the women's section, India maintained its half point lead after drawing 1.5-1.5 with Vietnam. The results: Men (seventh round): Iran `A' (17) lost to India (21) 1-3 (Ehsan Ghaem Maghami drew with K. Sasikiran; Ehsan Moradiabadi lost to Surya Shekhar Ganguly; Morteza Mahjoob drew with S. Kidambi; Morteza Darban lost to Sandipan Chanda); Vietnam (22) bt Afghanistan (2.5) 4-0; Turkmenistan (10) bt Iran `B' (11.5) 3.5-0.5. Women (fourth round): Vietnam (6) drew with India (6.5) (Nguyen Thi Thanh An drew with Nisha Mohota; Luong Minh Hue lost to Mary Ann Gomes; Hoang Thi Bao Tram bt Swati Ghate); Iran `B' (6) drew with Iran `A' (5.5).
