BELLARY: Re-polling in three booths in Bellary taluk was peaceful on Monday. An estimated 76 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise. Re-polling was ordered in two booths in Jalibenchi village and Bylur as the ballot boxes were disturbed when groups of people barged into the booths on December 23. There was also an attempt to rig the polls. Some ballot papers were found torn. Police had made security arrangements.
Ban order
Meanwhile, Arvind Srivastav, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr.PC in the district when counting will be taken up on Tuesday. The orders will be in force till 6 a.m. on Friday.
