Probe into alleged irregularities in the counselling held for teacher transfers

ANANTAPUR: Regional Joint Director of School Education, Pullaiah, inspected the office of District Education Officer here on Monday as the inquiry officer of a probe ordered by the department into the alleged irregularities in the counselling held for teacher transfers.

The inquiry was ordered based on a petition of the United Teachers' Federation. The inquiry officer had a detailed discussion with the DEO, P. Ananda Murthy, and other staff members of the office on the charges levelled against them pertaining to irregularities in teachers' transfers.

Tension prevailed on the DEO office premises as the activists of an organisation allegedly gathered there with bamboos in support of the DEO.

Breaks down?

The DEO was learnt to have broken down before the inquiry officer, when a delegation of the UTF led by Eera Chinnappa went to submit a representation to the probe officer with a list of 59 teachers transferred in violation of rules.

Ananda Murthy was learnt to have asked the United Teachers' Federation leaders as to why they were victimising him after being benefited during the exercise for transfers.
