BSNL offer

CHENNAI: BSNL Chennai Telephones will offer 25 per cent extra talk time on Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 3,000 recharge coupons that are activated between December 27-January 26. It has also planned live demonstrations of DataOne Broadband at a stall in Thangam Maligai, Tondiarpet, from December 28-31. Excel pre-paid cards will also be on sale. Customers are required to bring address proof (photocopy with original for verification) and two passport size photos.

Honorary Lecturer's post

The Department of Collegiate Education has invited applications for the post of Honorary Lecturer in Bharathi Women's College on Prakasam Salai, Broadway. Interested candidates may check the college notice board for a format of the application form. Last date for applications is December 29 and interviews will be held on January 2.

5S management technique training

ABK-AOTS Dosokai, Tamil Nadu Centre, will organise a one-day training programme on the Japanese 5S management technique on January 5. The venue is at Chateau D'Ampa, 37/110, Nelson Manickam Road, Aminjikarai. For details, call 23740318 or 30903332.

Free music course

The Shree Prakash Cultural Heritage Research Centre will conduct a free three month course on Annamacharya Sankeerthanam and Brahmendra bhajans at Lalithkala Kshethram, K.R.Koil Street, West Mambalam (Fridays, 4 p.m.) and Ramana Kendra, 41, Alamelumangapuram, Mylapore (Sundays, 10 a.m.). Eye camp

Lions Club of Madras Metro East organised an eye camp at Retteri on December 25. About 1,500 people were screened for eye ailments and 127 persons referred for cataract surgery. Spectacles were given free of cost to the poor.

Youth meet

Sevalaya, a charitable trust, has planned a free seminar for youth to improve awareness on volunteering. A release here said the seminar would give participants a first hand experience of positive impact through social work in rural areas. The seminar will be held at Kasuva village near Thiruninravur. Office-bearers elected

The general body of the Tamil Nadu Thiraiyarangu Urimaiyalargal Sangam was held recently where RMM. Annamalai was elected president; R. Pannerselvam secretary, R. Sathyaseelan treasurer and R. Ramakrishnan patron.

Mahotsavam

A Paarthiba Linga Pooja Mahotsavam has been organised by Sri Kshipra Prasada Ganapathy Trust from December 30 to January 8 at the Hindi Prachar Sabha, T.Nagar.

Mrithunjaya Homam will be performed on January 2; the Maharudhra homam and Satha Chandi homam, on January 8.
