Foreign nationals detained at airport

BANGALORE: Immigration police in the airport detained three foreign nationals on charges of attempting to travel to London with fake documents on Sunday morning.

According to police, Douglas Ina William Rankin, 62, a Briton who was travelling on a Mexican passport, was taking two people Khayyam (16), an Iranian national, and Habibulla (16), an Afgan national, to London. They arrived in the city by a domestic flight from Mumbai and were planning to board the British Airways flight departing from here at 5 a.m.

It was during the immigration check at 3 a.m. that British Airways personnel became suspicious of Mr. Douglas alerted the immigration police. The police found Mr. Douglas' original British passport in his bag .

During the investigation the police have found that Mr. Douglas has been staying in Goa illegally for the past 10 years.

He was said to be running a water sports firm and had a six-room house in there. The police are continuing their investigation.
