Two killed in separate accidents

MADURAI: Two persons were killed in different road accidents in the district on Monday.

According to police sources, K. Pitchaiammal (45) of Peraiyur was trying to cross the Madurai-Theni National Highway at Poochipatti when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus heading towards Theni from Madurai ran over her. She suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot. The Usilampatti Taluk police have registered a case.

In a hit and run case, an unidentified man was found dead on the Madurai-Dindigul National Highway at Samayanallur this morning. Police said a speeding vehicle might have fatally hit the victim during the wee hours.

Samayanallur police are investigating.
