Student ends life

MADURAI: A ninth standard student allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Thenur near Samayanallur in the district on Monday.

According to police sources, L. Natchiappan (15) took the extreme step after his parents scolded him for not attending school regularly. The boy consumed poison last night and was found lying unconscious in his room. He was shifted to the Government Rajaji Hospital here where he succumbed.

The Samayanallur police have registered a case.
