NCC contingent leaves

Thiruvananthapuram: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent of the Kerala and Lakshadweep NCC Directorate, comprising 105 cadets, six instructors and five civilian staff, left for New Delhi from here on Monday to participate in the Republic Day parade. VSM Group Commander, NCC, Thiruvananthapuram, Jacob Dominic, flagged off the contingent. — Staff Reporter

DYFI to stage dharna

Thiruvananthapuram: The DYFI will organise dharnas in front of all the village offices in the State on Tuesday as part of intensifying the agitation against the alleged backdoor appointments being made in various departments and to protest against the Government's inaction in solving the unemployment problem in the State. DYFI all-India president K.N. Balagopal will inaugurate the agitation in the city. — Staff Reporter

Fogging operations

Thiruvananthapuram: The City Corporation will undertake fogging in areas under the Kamaleswaram ward on Tuesday. A release quoting Mayor C. Jayan Babu said the fogging would be undertaken in Perunthanni ward on Wednesday, Nemom ward on Thursday, Palayam and Palayam market on Friday and near Thycaud Government hospital and adjacent places on Saturday. — Staff Reporter

Two-way traffic

Thiruvananthapuram: Vehicular traffic will be allowed in both directions from Kakkapura junction to Girls High School in Nedumangad town with immediate effect. A release quoting District Collector N. Ayyappan said the decision had been taken following complaints that the one-way regulation was causing inconvenience to the road users. The Nedumangad municipality had also asked for a review of the decision. — Staff Reporter

Home appliances exhibition

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Trade Fair Foundation will host the 168th all-India home appliances exhibition and sale of consumer goods, home products and readymades at St. Joseph's School auditorium from Wednesday to Sunday. Nearly 80 known companies are expected to participate in the exhibition. — Staff Reporter
