Right admonishment

The editorial, `Standing reality on its head' (Dec. 26), has rightly criticised MDMK general secretary Vaiko for misleading Prime Minister Manmohan Singh vis-à-vis the LTTE on the eve of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse's visit to India. India cannot support the LTTE or its demand for a Tamil Eelam.

Mr. Vaiko can help the suffering Tamils of Sri Lanka if he can persuade the LTTE to negotiate a place in a federal set-up.
