This Day That Age
For fulfilling the true ideals of a university, it is necessary to train a generation of competent teachers commanding the confidence of public and honoured by them and build up the intellectual power and understanding of the students, observed the Vice-President, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, at Annamalainagar on December 26, while declaring open a new building named after Dr. R.K. Shanmukham Chetti, former Vice-Chancellor of the Annamalai University. He said the late Dr. Chetti served the country with great distinction in different capacities. What the young men should learn from the life of Dr. Chetti was that unless they had the capacity to work hard and dedicate themselves to the task set before them and were prepared to spend their time, thought and energy for the realisation of their ideals, nothing great could be achieved. Raja Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar, Pro-Chancellor of the university, expressed his gratefulness to the Vice-President for all the help and advice he had given them in the past.
