Vajpayee leaves to pay homage to cousin

MUMBAI
: The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, broke off from the BJP's National Executive meeting here and left for Gwalior to pay homage to his cousin Manekchand Vajpayee.
Mr. Manekchand Vajpayee was the founder-editor of Hindi daily Swadesh in the State.
The former Prime Minister paid rich tributes to his cousin, popularly known as "Mamaji." Society suffered big loss with the demise of such persons, he said.
Mr. Vajpayee is expected to return on Tuesday night itself. Participating in the BJP's three-day silver jubilee convention that starts on Wednesday, he will address a public rally on Thursday and deliver the valedictory address the next day.

Manekchand Vajpayee passed away after a prolonged illness at the Sangh office in Gwalior in the early hours of Tuesday. The last rites will be held on Wednesday, RSS sources said.
