PANAJI: Goa needs to be more sensitive to the likely impact of the World Trade Organisation agreements in the areas of tourism and biodiversity. This was the general consensus which emerged at the two-day "WTO outreach workshop" jointly organised here recently by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Delhi-based AEDR, a non-profit organisation dedicated to research and teaching on issues related to trade, development and environment. Presenting the regional perspective, at the workshop sponsored by the British High Commission, A. Sreekumar, Head of the Department, Management Studies, Goa University, highlighted the impact of WTO on tourism and higher education in Goa while Nandkumar Kamat spoke about the rich biodiversity of Goa. This was the seventh of eight WTO awareness workshops to be conducted throughout the country this year.
