Rajahmundry : Minister for Social Welfare Redya Naik has announced that they are planning to set up integrated social welfare hostel complexes in each district from next academic year. Speaking to reporters before leaving for East Godavari agency area for hostel inspection on Tuesday, the Minister said that each district would be sanctioned four to five such complexes and in the first phase 120 hostels would be constructed in the State.
Nod for proposal
He said that a minimum strength of 400 students would be maintained in each hostel and all SC, ST and BC students would be put together in these complexes.
He said the Chief Minister had already approved the proposal and construction would be taken up before next academic year.
Mr. Naik, who laid the foundation for SC boys hostel in the city, reviewed functioning of hostels with officials.
The Minister said the Congress Government, after coming to power, had filled 194 welfare officer (wardens) posts.
