KOCHI: A number of Sanskrit scholars were in Thripunithura to participate in the Sastra Sadas being held at Government Sanskrit College, Thripunithura. The Sadas, which had the patronage of the erstwhile Kochi royalty, continues to be a programme where scholars meet and exchange their knowledge. The Sadas has been able to develop new scholars over the years. Vakyarthavicharam, the main programme, is relished and enjoyed by all. The second-day of Sastra Sadas began with Sanskrit scholar R. Vasudevan Potti presiding over the programme. In the afternoon, many scholars participated in the Panditharaja Seetharaman Embranthiri Memorial at which Brahmamangalam Madhavan presided. He was a gem in the Tulu community and a Jyothisha scholar, said Sreenivasan Embranthiri. S. Vasudevan, son of the late scholar, said that the late Prof. Seetharaman was always surrounded by his disciples. One of his premier disciples, Mallisseri Raman Namboothiri, said that Prof Seetharaman would treat all who came under his ambit with equal respect. S. Susheela and K.G. Paulose spoke on the occasion. Earlier, M.R. Vasavan, Principal of the College, welcomed the gathering. P.A. Mary proposed a vote of thanks. The Sadas concluded on Thursday. It was inaugurated on Tuesday by Sanskrit scholar V. Venkataraja Sharma, who had recently received the President's medal for his contribution for the development of the language.
