THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 24-hour token strike by employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) from Wednesday midnight in protest against the moves for denationalisation of major routes was near-total. With almost 70 per cent of the services getting disrupted, the strike threw public transport in the State into disarray. Despite its efforts, the KSRTC management could operate only around 300 services. In several places, striking employees blocked attempts by the Corporation to operate services. In many depots, the police had to remove striking workers to operate a skeletal service. The impact of the strike was felt more in the southern districts. In places where the strike affected public transport, the travelling public were forced to opt for trains or parallel transport services.
