CHENNAI: Harsh Karnati of Andhra Pradesh won the under-9 section in the Asian Schools Chess Festival organised by the Singapore Chess Federation at Hotel Royal in Singapore from December 18-24. India won one gold, seven silver and one bronze medal and was the third best among teams. Harsh Karnati won the under-9 section with 7.5/9. Indian team won the silver medal in this section. In the under-11 section, India won team silver with Riddhish Kapadia and Asim Mehta contributing to it. In the under-13 section, Karan Ajinkya finished second and India also won the silver in the team section with Ajinkya and Saurabh Siroya counting for the team. In the under-15 section, Sankalp Modwal won the bronze medal while the team silver was won by him and Somani Sanam. In the girls' under-9 section, G. Umabharathi of Chennai won the silver medal and together with Tanvi Sala won the team silver medal.
