Bolarum FC posts win

HYDERABAD: Bolarum FC defeated Rainbow Club 4-2 in the Susai Sr. memorial football tournament, organised by Shastri Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

Bolarum shot into lead thanks to a fine solo effort from winger Manibushan in the 19th minute. Within seven minutes, Niranjan, who was later adjudged `best player' of the match, equalised.

In the second session too, there was a seesaw struggle for supremacy with Bolarum taking the lead once again with Ram Prasad finding the target in the 48th minute. But only to see Niranjan score his second goal and level the scores again for Rainbow. But in the dying minutes, Bolarum struck twice through Laxminarayana and Sunil.

Facile win for ACA

Arshad Cricket Academy recorded a 71-run win against DCA in the under-13 semifinal of the Santa Cup cricket tournament for sub-juniors organised by Vijaya Paul Cricket Academy here.

Under-11: GMSHS 162 for seven (Vishnu 61, Vishal Jude three for 14) bt VPCA 143 (Vishal Jude 38, Anudesh three for 20); St. John's 274 for seven (Chaitanya 51, Rahul Singh 71, Shantaram three for 20) bt DCA 160 (Furgan 37, Raghuram three for 30).

Under-13: St. John's 145 for five (Anirudh 42, Akshit 31, Shresht 30) lost to VPCA 146 for four (Rayan Koundinya 62 not out, Saheb Ali Khan 31); Arshad CA 211 for seven (M.Ali Hussain 34, Faraaz 95, Mallikarjun 35) bt DCA 140 (Devashish 35).

Under-15: VPCA 209 for five (Kaneshk Naidu 72 n.o., Sharath Raj 52) bt BPCA 130 (Chandra 36, Ashish Reddy three for 12); Samaritans HS 165 for five (Viswajeet 60, Naveen 36) lost to DCA 167 for five (Shiva 42).

Chevrolet registers win

Chevrolet Insportz (Dubai) recorded a 95-run win against Don Bosco High School in a cricket match at Gymkhana Grounds here.

The scores: Chevrolet Insportz, Dubai, 206 in 39.1 overs (Siddmani Gandhi 58, Raza Ali five for 12) bt Don Bosco HS 111 (Mahesh 31, Hamid four for 12).

Pujari Shailaja lauded

SAAP chairman M.S. Raj Thakur and SAAP VC & MD G. Kamalavardhan Rao lauded the achievement of weightlifter Pujari Shailaja on setting a new national record by winning the 75 kg weight category gold in the senior National championship at Yamuna Nagar on Wednesday.

C.K. Nayudu cricket

Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank) will organise the 10th C.K. Nayudu day-and-night cricket tournament on its grounds from January 3. Besides the trophies to the winner and runner-up, special incentives will be given to the individual performances during the event, according to K. Sai Baba, general secretary of SCF.
