Nagam accepts Congress' challenge
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Telugu Desam Party MLA from Nagarkurnool Nagam Janardhan Reddy has welcomed the Congress Legislature Party's decision to participate in a debate on "irregularities" in the execution of Mahatma Gandhi Lift Irrigation scheme (Kalwakurthy) on January 2.
Mr. Reddy was present at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) office on Thursday, as promised, to substantiate his charges of "irregularities" armed with documents. He, along with R. Chandrasekhara Reddy, MP, waited in the office for information from the Congress.
He was informed that the CLP had issued a statement late on Wednesday that its members would participate in the debate. "I welcome the announcement by the Congress leaders," Mr. Reddy said, adding that at least the leaders had responded to his repeated charges.
The senior TDP leader who carried a large number of files pertaining to tenders, price bids, agreement copies and subsequent alterations said he would present them at the meeting. He sought the help of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists in moderating the debate.
