Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to veteran Congress leader Dronamraju Satyanarayana who died here late on Wednesday night at Care Hospital. The ailing Congress leader was on life support system before he breathed his last. Doctors informed D. Srinivas, son of Satyanarayana, after midnight that there was no point in continuing the efforts to revive him. The final word came after 1 a.m.
`Able Parliamentarian'
Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde expressed his grief at the demise of Satyanarayana. In a condolence message, he said that he was an able Parliamentarian and a committed people's representative. In another message, BJP vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu said that he was shocked by the death. Mr. Naidu recalled his long association with the leader. BJP State president N. Indrasena Reddy too condoled the death. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid a wreath on the body and said he had lost a good friend and colleague. "The State lost a leader who believed in value-based politics," he said. Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy termed him a "good parliamentarian" and said that the House had lost a guide. PCC president K. Keshava Rao said Dronamraju was a leader of immense popularity in north coastal districts. Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu paid floral tributes to the departed leader and said his contribution, particularly to north Andhra politics, was immense. Ministers - B. Satyanarayana, Konathala Ramakrishna and Ponnala Lakshmaiah - and senior Congress MLA Gade Venkat Reddy joined them in recalling the contribution of Dronamraju to the development of the region. Minister for Sports M. Satyanarayana Rao said he had lost a friend. The Congress Legislature Party too expressed shock over the death of the senior most Congress leader.
