Spreading dragnet
Terrorists are spreading their tentacles in this otherwise tranquil city. The explosion at the Commissioner's Task Force office and the arrest Muzeeb Ahmed, for "planning attacks" in the city with the support of Hizbul Mujahideen proves this. In this backdrop, the police realise that mere check-posts and vehicle checks are useless. What the police higher-ups, who had been trying to trumpet their performance with jugglery of statistics, seem to forget is that the persons they arrested were earlier nabbed on similar charges. While Zahed, arrested in the Task Force office blast case, was in the past picked up allegedly for planning to kill BJP leader N. Indrasena Reddy, Muzeeb was arrested for killing police officer Krishna Prasad. "Surveillance on all suspects is on," the police say. Only the almighty knows why it took alerts from New Delhi and Rajasthan to round up Zahed and Muzeeb respectively when the so-called watch was on.
