Stolen articles recovered

TIRUPUR: The Tirupur police on Thursday said that they had arrested 21 persons in connection with various thefts, house-breaking and pocket picking incidents.

Stolen articles worth Rs. 10 lakhs were recovered from them.

The police said that all the accused would be produced before the court on Friday.

They had arrested the accused in connection with 16 cases, which occurred during the recent few weeks.

Car catches fire

A car reportedly caught fire near a petrol bunk on Uthukuli road in Tirupur on Thursday. According to the police, a person who drove the car fuelled it in a petrol bunk. Since he could not start the car, people nearby pushed it.

A few yards away, it suddenly caught fire and immediately the person fled the scene. A fire engine was used to put out the fire.
