Power shutdown

Bangalore Electricity Supply Company has informed that because of maintenance work there will be no power supply between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday in the following areas: HSR 1st, 2nd and 4th Sectors, Agara, Bellandur and surrounding areas.

Free evaluation

St. Martha's Hospital has arranged a free evaluation programme for stroke patients at its premises from January 2 to 6. Ram P. Bhala, visiting consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin, U.S., will be available for free consultation by personal appointment only. Special darshan

The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam's Information Centre at Vyalaikaval will be open on New Year's Day. There will be darshan of Lord Venkateswhara and distribution of prasadam from 5.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Plea to pensioners

Bangalore University has asked all university pensioners to send their Life Certificates to the Finance Officer, attested by branch managers of the State Bank of Mysore where they draw pensions on or before January 15. They can approach the pension section of the university in person.

Research fellows

Bangalore University has invited applications from candidates with M.Sc.,/ M.Phil in Environmental Sciences/ Forestry/ Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics to work as senior research fellow and technical assistant on a project Vegetation Regeneration Analysis using Remote Sensing and GIS in Bandipur National Park. Applications are to be sent before January 4 and interviews will be on January 6.
