HYDERABAD: A 19-year-old girl reportedly converted to marry the person she fell in love with since she was a school student. Neha Mahin of SBI Colony in Kavadiguda approached the Gandhinagar police on Thursday stating her parents, with who she had been living all these days, were not allowing to go to her husband Shaik Ghouse Latifuddin. The police called in the Musheerabad MRO who recorded her statement. Later, Mahin went to the house of her husband in Hasmathpet, while the police said no case was booked since both Nahin and Latifuddin, 24, were majors. Police said Nahin happened to meet Latifuddin when she was studying in a school at Karkhana. Subsequently, he joined her house as a car driver and worked for three years. The girl's father was working as a customs officer. On learning about his daughter's reported friendship, he sacked the driver. "However, the girl and Latifuddin had been in touch and their friendship blossomed into love," the police said. Without the knowledge of her parents, the girl recently changed her religion and married Latifuddin as per the latter's religious tradition.
Summons from court
Their marriage came to light a couple of days ago when the girl's parents received summons from the High Court following a petition filed by Latifuddin saying they were not allowing Mahin to join him. Soon after her parents received the summons, the girl too approached Gandhinagar police seeking protection to join her husband.
