Hyderabad : Security has been beefed up in the State capital for the coming events like the AICC plenary, Science congress and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The CRPF is already present in the city. If necessary, the Government will requisition more central forces, according to Home Minister K. Jana Reddy. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, he said there was no need to defer these programmes because of the attack in Bangalore in which a professor was killed. The police had been put on full alert and the situation was being monitored on a regular basis. Security had also been stepped up for the numerous defence establishments and scientific institutions in the city, the Home Minister said. He said visitors to the Industrial Exhibition need not panic as adequate security measures were being taken. Additional police forces were being deployed for the 45-day exhibition. To a question, he said though there was a spurt in cases of dacoity and robbery, the overall crime rate had registered a fall during the year. A couple of incidents should not be blown out of proportion to paint the law and order situation as bad, he added.
CISF companies
The State Government has requested the Centre to provide 12 companies of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to strengthen security for prestigious events lined up over the next two months.
