KSRTC strike total in district

Stray incidents of violence at Muvattupuzha, Aluva

KOCHI:
The 24-hour strike called by trade unions of KSRTC was total in the district. Isolated incidents of violence were reported from a few places. However, the strike did not have great impact in the city where private buses are the major mode of transport of commuters.
Two buses were stoned in Muvattupuzha and Aluva since Wednesday night. No one was injured in these incidents, said the police. No untoward incident was reported from the city limits.
No worker reported for duty at the KSRTC bus terminal here. Of the 81 employees in the mechanical section, only eight reported for duty, while none in the administrative section turned up.
No service was operated from the depot, as there were no drivers on duty, said a KSRTC official.
