Garbage collection
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
Stating that the Delhi Master Plan-2021 has estimated that the Capital needs about 10,000 hectares of land to dispose of garbage collected across the city, Hazard Centre director Duno Roy on Thursday said it was high time the Government provided space to 2-lakh rag pickers working in the city so as to enable them to segregate hazardous waste from material that is good enough to be recycled.
Mr. Roy urged the Government to allow rag pickers to earn their livelihood by selling recycled material to units operating in Mayapuri, Nalgoi and Aligarh.
