NEW DELHI: Ishan Bahuguna upset the second-seeded V. Arun Anand 6-2, 6-2 in the under-16 boys' pre-quarterfinals of the Hindsutan Times second Ram Lal memorial AITA Talent series junior tennis tournament at the Modern School courts, Barakhamba Road, here on Friday. The results (pre-quarterfinals):
Under-14 girls: Carol Augustine bt Harnoor Mann 6-0, 6-0; Pooja Narayana bt Kanishka Arora 6-1, 6-2; Megha Kapoor bt Vanika Gouchwal 6-3, 6-2. Aakanksha Punj bt Ayesha Nanda 6-1, 6-3; Smriti Joon bt Prakriti Malhotra 6-3, 6-2; Arushi Sharma bt Ankita Bhatia 6-0, 6-0. Malika Saharia bt Abhilasha Ahuja 6-1, 6-0; Saumya Sanghi bt Shivya Sachdeva 6-0, 6-0.
Yuki, Arnav get wild cards
Yuki Bhambri and Arnav Jain have been given the wild cards for the Sunny Enclave ITF Grade III junior tennis tournament to be played at the CLTA Complex, Chandigarh, from January 2 to 6. The other two wild cards in the boys' section went to talented local lads, Vijayant Malik and Shiva Sangwan. In the girls' section, Inayat Khosla, Parul Noor, Prerna Mythri and Prerna Bhambri got the wild cards. In a release issued on Friday, it was stated that the tournament had attracted players from Kroea, China, Russia, Israel, Pakistan, Indonesia, Ukraine, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Turkey and the United States.
