Laurel for VSP team

A presentation on `Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant's effforts towards motivation of employees to meet the business challenges' made by the quality circle team of VSP bagged the first prize at the AP Productivity Council's 16th national convention at Tirupati recently. The paper, presented by G.R. Murthy (incharge DGM-management services) and Y. Chandrasekhar (DCM-MS), competed with teams from BHEL, BEL and REVL and secured success.

Humour show

Visakha Humour Club will conduct a special 'hasyavallari' programme on Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kalabharati auditorium to bid farewell to the year 2005 and to welcome 2006. According to club secretary Nanduri Prabhakar, there is no entry fee for the show.

KC Reddy felicitated

AP State Council of Higher Education Chairman K.C. Reddy was on Friday felicitated by the faculty, research scholars and students of the School of Economics of Andhra University on his election as president of the Indian Economic Association (IEA). Prof. Reddy said that a great responsibility had been bestowed on him as president of IEA since great traditions had been set by his illustrious predecessors like Dr. Manmohan Singh and Dr.C. Rangarajan.

Coaching in painting

Sree Sri Art Creative Centre will conduct free week-long coaching classes in painting for school children at its premises in Prahaladapuram from January 2. Details can be had from B. Satya Veni (Tel: 2797700).

Bars to remain open till 1 a.m.

The Govenrment has allowed the restaurant-and- bars, in-house bars and wine shops to conduct business till 1 a.m. on January 1 on the eve of New Year celebrations, according to a press release from the Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, T.N. Venkataswamy here on Friday.

Insured New Year bash

'Beach Blast', the New Year celebration being organised on the beach near VUDA Park on Saturday evening, is probably the only event which has been insured in all respects, according to event managers, Cloud 9. ``The event will feature film actresses Pooja Bharati, Madhu Sharma and Jyothi. A troupe from the Satya Dance Academy, remixes by DJ Paul and comedy show by Harikrishna are the other attractions.

Country Club show

The Country Club, which is organising its annual New Year-eve show, has engaged film singer Malathy of Chennai. It will be held at Gurazada Kalakshetram.
