`Will not accept KSRTC unions' demand'

NEDUMBASSERY: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said here on Friday that there was no question of revisiting the decision to denationalise certain routes as demanded by the unions of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). He said that the existing services by private operators on those routes would continue. — A Correspondent

KRL employee collapses, dies

KOCHI: P.B. Jayarajan, 45, from Chithrapuzha Road, near Hill Palace, collapsed while he was on maintenance work on the sulphur plant of the Kochi Refineries Limited (KRL). He died en route to hospital. The body has been sent for post mortem examination to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. — Staff Reporter

Law graduates enrolled

Kochi: As many as 580 law graduates were enrolled as lawyers at a function organised by the Bar Council of Kerala here on Friday. The former High Court Judge Chettur Sankaran Nair was the chief of guest at the function. Bar Council of Kerala Chairman P.G. Thampi administered the oath to the newly enrolled lawyers. — Staff Reporter

Cusat agitation withdrawn

KOCHI: The Cochin University Employees Association withdrew its agitation on Friday following the Cusat Syndicate decision to withdraw the suspension of association leader Harilal.

The Syndicate also decided to declare the examination, vehicle, IRAA and engineering sections of the university as essential service. — Staff Reporter

Headmaster convicted

Kochi: The CBI Special Court 1 convicted P.S. Mony, former headmaster of Senior Secondary School, Minicoy, to rigorous imprisonment for three years and a fine of Rs.50,000 for offences punishable under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act. — Staff Reporter

Parishad meeting

Kochi: The two-day district conference of the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad will begin at Vadattupara Poyka School on Saturday. The district conference is being held in connection with the State conference of the organisation to be held at North Paravur in February. — Staff Reporter
