Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: There is good news for power consumers in Andhra Pradesh. The APTransco has not proposed any power tariff hike for consumers of all categories for the year 2006-07. The Transco has, in fact, proposed further rationalisation of power tariff for HT-I category consumers for providing competitive rates to industries. The Transco has proposed a 3.7 per cent reduction in the tariff for HT-I category by modifying the incentive scheme. Accordingly, the overall effective tariff would be Rs. 3.56 per unit as compared to the existing Rs. 3.70 per unit. For the first time, voltage-wise tariff is proposed for the HT-II non-industrial category due to which the overall tariff is proposed to be reduced from Rs. 5.28/kwh to Rs. 5.19/kwh.
