HYDERABAD: It was yet another great night of ushering in the New Year with colourful celebrations warming up the cold night in the city on Saturday. Crackers were burst, cakes cut, thousands of balloons released and `spirits' soared new heights as wine shops and bars were kept open till 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Since the Necklace road and Upper Tank Bund were closed, revellers had to confine themselves to other main roads to exhibit their racing skills.

While gorgeous models and vibrant disc jockeys made it a special night at star hotels with ear-splitting music and smoke-filled dance floors, private parties were held at clubs and posh farmhouses. .

Some youngsters assembled at temples and participated in bhajans, while some others offered special prayers at churches. The variety of food and fun at restaurants was a big draw for the young brigade.
