Sumit Bhattacharjee
In 2000 we saw the dot.com boom that ferried hundreds of software developers across the Atlantic to Uncle Sam's land. A year later the bubble was pricked and most of them were found working in gas stations. Year 2005 the boom is back and it is a real and stable one unlike the earlier one, says Yusuf Mehdi, Senior Vice-President, MSN, Microsoft Corporation. Mr. Yusuf, Indian-born settled in US, heads the MSN's Information Services at Microsoft in America. In an exclusive chat with The Hindu Education Plus,he zeroed in on career prospects for Indian engineers and professionals in Microsoft. "Indian engineers are among the best in the world. We at Microsoft look forward to working with Indian professionals," says Mr. Yusuf. At present China has a potential edge mainly because of its infrastructure. If India can match China's infrastructure then it could lead the show. According to him the web is a booming medium and in the coming years it is going to be the number one medium for advertising." So watch out for a whole lot of openings.
