Anand slips to No. 3
An inactive Gary Kasparov still heads the list with 2812 while World champion Veselin Topalov broke the 2800-point barrier to displace Anand from the second spot. World Cup winner Levon Aronian has jumped to the fifth spot behind Russia's Peter Svidler but ahead of Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Leko. From India's point of view, this is also the first time when three Indians find themselves in the top-30 list. Following Anand are, P. Hari Krishna (2673) and K. Sasikiran (2670) in the 28th and 30th spots, respectively. Hari is also the second in the world junior list. Among the women, K. Humpy (2537) is second behind Judit Polgar (2711). S. Vijayalakshmi (2479) is 10th. Humpy also heads the junior girls list. The World's top-10 list: 1. G. Kasparov (Rus, 2812), 2. V. Topalov (Bul, 2801), 3. V. Anand (Ind, 2792), 4. P. Svidler (Rus, 2765), 5. L. Aronian (Arm, 2752), 6. V. Kramnik (Rus, 2741), 7. P. Leko (Hun, 2740), 8. V. Ivanchuk (Ukr, 2729), 9-10. B. Gelfand (Isr, 2723) and Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukr, 2723).
