Central nod for Rajasthan road work

    JAIPUR: The Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways has sanctioned the works relating to the development of roads of inter-State significance in Rajasthan to be taken up at a cost of Rs. 36.54 crores. These works will be launched in the districts bordering Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

    The Public Works Department Minister, Rajendra Rathore, stating this here on Sunday, pointed out that the State Government's other proposals in the road sector worth Rs. 77 crores were currently pending with the Centre and the approval was expected shortly for the proposals valued at Rs. 12.30 crores.

    The State has received Rs. 1.45 crores from the Centre for development of Bharatpur-Mathura road and the work would be completed by December this year.

    Mr. Rathore said the approvals by the Surface Transport Ministry included those for six inter-State roads which would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 23.73 crores. Rs. 5.30 crores will be spent on developing Bhadra-Jhasal road in Hanumangarh district.

    The Minister said Rs. 1.19 crores had been sanctioned for Gadhi-Bagidora-Kushalgarh road in Banswara district, Rs. 5.15 crores for Tonk-Sawai Madhopur-Shivpura road in Sawai Madhopur district, Rs. 1.40 crores for the road between Ramchandrapura village and the Haryana border in Alwar district, Rs. 66.53 lakhs for Alwar-Shahpura road, and Rs. 10 crores for the road from Sewar to the Madhya Pradesh border via Sarmathura in Dholpur district.

    Mr. Rathore pointed out that the Surface Transport Ministry had given its consent to two of the proposals worth Rs. 6.20 crores sent during 2005-06. The projects relate to the development of Aklera-Manoharthana-Maharajpur road in Jhalawar district and Nohar-Phephana road in Hanumangarh district.
