Blood Donors' Directory released

Staff Reporter

SALEM: The Vice-Chancellor of the Periyar University T. Balakrishnan released the Volume II of Blood Donors Directory categorised on the basis of blood groups of donors, at a function here on Monday. The Dean of the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College P. Anusuya received the first copy of the directory.

Earlier, the University released Volume II with 4,164 addresses of donors, their blood groups and contact numbers grouped on the basis of the college in which the donors studied.

The new grouping based on the blood group would help identify donors quickly, University officials said.

Volume I contained 2,106 addresses. The two volumes were distributed free of cost to all Government and private hospitals, primary health centres and panchayat offices in Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts.

The University was planning to release Volume III with another 4,000 addresses of donors, taking the total donor addresses in the directory to 10,000.

Registrar in-charge of the University G. Kunasekaran was present.
