Correction

The story titled "NHRC takes positive steps in 2005," published in these columns on January 1, 2006, says that the PUCL petition challenging the appointment of P.C. Sharma as member of the National Human Rights Commission was upheld two-to-one by a three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court. This is not correct. The matter was upheld by a unanimous judgment of the three-judge Bench. The error is regretted.
