WELLINGTON: Daniel Vettori will lead an unchanged New Zealand cricket team in the second of the four limited-overs internationals against Sri Lanka on Tuesday as captain Stephen Fleming extends a period of paternity leave. Fleming missed the first match, won by New Zealand by seven wickets at Queenstown on Saturday, to be with his wife after the birth of their first child on Thursday. Coach John Bracewell confirmed Fleming had asked to spend a few more days at home and will not rejoin the New Zealand team until the third match in his hometown, Wellington, on Friday. Bracewell saw no need to change the New Zealand side after its commanding performance on Saturday. Newcomers Jamie How, who scored 58 on debut, and Peter Fulton, who made an unbeaten 70 in his second match, saw New Zealand safely past Sri Lanka's modest total of 164.
The teams (from): New Zealand: Daniel Vettori (capt.), Jamie How, Lou Vincent, Peter Fulton, Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris, Jacob Oram, Chris Cairns, Brendon McCullum, James Franklin, Kyle Mills, Shane Bond, Nathan Astle. Sri Lanka: Marvan Atapattu (capt.), Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Tiilakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanag, Farveez Maharoof, Russel Arnold, Malinga Bandara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Avishka Gunawardene, Lasith Malinga, Chaminda Vaas, Jehan Mubarak, Ruchira Perera, Dilhara Fernando.
