Rs. 30-lakh package for Information Department

BELGAUM: The Information Department has received a Rs. 30-lakh package to renovate its building adjacent to the zilla panchayat office here.

The money will be released as part of flood relief works, according to official sources.

Media centre

The objective is to set up a media centre of the department to organise press conferences, seminars, workshops and discussions.

On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajneesh released Rs. 8 lakhs for various works to be taken up under the first phase of the project.

The Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, R.T. Jungal, and the Deputy Director of the Information Department, Basavaraj Kambi, were present on the occasion.

Conference hall

A sum of Rs. 22 lakhs will be released to build a modern conference hall with audio-system, furniture, podium, dais and a VIP corridor, according to official sources.

All works are expected to be completed by March end.
