TIRUNELVELI: Five persons were killed and four injured including two boys in three accidents in the district on Sunday. In the first incident, the manager of a Tuticorin-based oil mill Harsha Kumar (42), operations manager Sathyanarayanan (40), storekeeper Prabhu (30), manager Srinivasa Rao (41), assistant manager Srinivasalu (45), sons of Srinivasa Rao, Ravi (13) and Yashwanth (10), were returning to Tuticorin in a van after visiting Sabarimala. When the van reached Seethaparpanallur under the Alangulam police station limits on Sunday afternoon, it had a head on collision with a lorry, killing Harsha Kumar, Sathyanarayanan and Prabhu on the spot and injuring others. The injured have been admitted to Government Medical College Hospital here. The police arrested S. Kamalanathan (37) of Sankar Nagar near here. In the second incident, M. Ambalam (20) of Azhagarmalai in Madurai district was killed when a private bus dashed against the van in which he was travelling. In the last incident, Mahalingam of Paavoorchathram was killed when a lorry fatally knocked him down.
