Nod for Pongal vacation Benches

CHENNAI: The Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court are to have vacation benches during Pongal holidays, said the Chief Justice, A.P. Shah.

Participating in the New Year celebrations at the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) here on Monday, Mr. Justice Shah acceded to a plea from the MHAA, and said vacation judges would be posted during the holidays (from January 7 to January 16).

He also wanted advocates to ensure that 2006 went down in history as a "court boycott-free year."
