Bangalore: Multiplex chain INOX Leisure Limited will set up three more multiplexes in the city at Malleswaram, Jayanagar and Koramangala as part of its expansion plans. The Malleswaram multiplex will have seven screens with 1,720 seats, Jayanagar multiplex will house four screens with a seating capacity of 1,100 seats and the Koramangala multiplex will have 1,860 seats spread across seven screens.
First city
Bangalore will be the first city in India where INOX will operate four multiplexes with 23 screens and a cumulative seating capacity of 5,780-plus seats. INOX opened its first multiplex in Bangalore at Garuda Mall in August 2005. The five-screen, 1,100-plus-seater multiplex has been designed by New Zealand-based Walker Architects. INOX has eight operational multiplexes, with a total of 32 screens, spread across Mumbai, Pune, Vadodara, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata and Bangalore. It plans to add two more multiplexes with a total of six screens in Indore and Darjeeling during the current financial year. INOX also proposes to expand in Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam and Jaipur. The company has also entered into a strategic alliance with the Pantaloon Group that provides INOX with preferential access to all real estate developments that are either funded or managed by the Pantaloon Group. INOX Leisure Limited will soon shortly float a public offer of shares to help fund expansion plans and get the company listed on the stock exchanges.
