The chain was formed from Gandhi Park at East Fort to Martyrs' Column at Palayam. DYFI all India president K.N. Balagopal was the first link of the chain at Gandhi Park and district president S.S. Rajalal was the last link at Martyrs' Column.

Pirappancode Murali, MLA, Peroorkada Sadasivan, Cherian Phillip, Kadakampally Surendran, S. Suseelan, M.M. Basheer, T.N. Seema, S.S. Poti, B. Satyan and leaders of various feeder organisations joined hands.

DYFI State secretariat member Karamana Hari read out the pledge. Later, a public meeting was held at the Gandhi Park. Inaugurating the meeting, Mr. Balagopal accused the Government of using the laws to check goonda activities against public men. Mr. Surendran presided over the function.
