TIRUCHI: More new buses would join the fleet of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Kumbakonam) Ltd, Tiruchi Region, replacing old ones before the end of this current financial year.

The TNSTC, Tiruchi Region, would get 110 new buses, its General Manager, K. Moorthy, said here on Monday.

In a brief interaction with the media after participating in the 17th Road Safety Week Celebrations held here, he said that out of 250 new buses meant for the region comprising Tiruchi, Perambalur and Karur districts, 145 were put into operation. The rest would join the fleet before March.

Though the average collection of the region was Rs. 16 crore per month, it would rise to Rs. 17 crore a month during summer season when movement would be high. He said, from April to December last year, there were 54 accidents involving TNSTC buses in this region.
